Swimming alongside these magnificent creatures, with their impressive 4-meter wing spans, is an unparalleled, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Their gentle nature, gracefulness, and curiosity are truly mesmerizing.
Choosing to stay at Mantaray Island between May and October makes swimming with these majestic creatures convenient and very affordable. The manta rays frequently glide in front of Mantaray Island, so you can step out of your beachfront villa, grab your snorkel gear, and dive into the water to witness these beautiful creatures passing by!
Even if swimming with manta rays isn’t your thing, a stay at Mantaray Island promises fun, adventurous, and relaxing times. Early morning hikers can take a sunrise hike to the mountaintop for breathtaking views. Water enthusiasts can venture out on kayaks and paddleboards. At the same time, those with a creative flair can try basket weaving!
As the sun sets, head on the leisurely sunset tube cruise or venture to the opposite side of the island to savor cocktails served in coconuts, all while admiring the picturesque sunset! Mantaray Island boasts a down-to-earth, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere, making the outdoor bar an ideal place to mingle with fellow travelers. Don’t miss out on the delicious wood-fired pizza and the à la carte lunches that have earned Mantaray Island a reputation for offering the finest cuisine in the Yasawa Islands.
Just a leisurely 3-hour boat ride from Denarau Marina on Fiji’s mainland, Mantaray Island is a picture-perfect destination to relax for a few days. Its pristine beach features shimmering white sand and crystal-clear waters, boasting some of the world’s best reefs! Whether you encounter manta rays or not, the snorkeling experience here is incredible!
Mantaray Island caters to a diverse range of travelers, including those eager to snorkel, meet fellow explorers, or embark on memorable sunrise and sunset adventures. With accommodation options ranging from dorm rooms to beachfront honeymoon villas, Mantaray Island provides a place to stay for every type of traveler, offering idyllic beachfront living at an affordable price.
Days 3-5
Kuata Island
A short boat ride from Mantaray Island, Kuata Island is another unique and incredible paradise, perfect for a few days! As you disembark from the boat, a Fijian warrior greets you with songs and dances from a cliff, signaling that you have arrived at a truly magical place!
The scenery is awe-inspiring and untouched, with pristine white sandy beaches, turquoise blue waters, unique rock formations, and volcanic mountains stretching in every direction.
Marine life enthusiasts will be in paradise at Kuata Island as it offers the fantastic opportunity to go on the renowned shark dive! This world-famous experience is a must-do for those seeking encounters with these majestic creatures!
Prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime experience with Kuata’s daily Awakening Shark Dive, catering to certified and introductory divers. A 25-minute boat ride will take you to the realm of the impressive ocean predators. Sit behind a rock on the ocean floor as the instructors feed bull sharks, tiger sharks, silver tip sharks, and lemon sharks nearby! While not for the faint-hearted, this adventure is very safe, thanks to the exceptional instructors.
If diving or mingling with the bigger sharks isn’t your cup of tea, embark on a snorkeling adventure with the friendly and utterly harmless resident reef sharks at nearby Moia Reef. Swimming alongside these curious creatures in their natural habitat is an incredible experience, as they come remarkably close to you!
Besides shark encounters, indulge in beach snorkeling at Kuata Island, where you’ll discover fantastic reefs teeming with smaller fish. Those who prefer to stay on dry land can relax by the swimming pools or hike to the other side of the island to discover a secluded beach. The sunrise hike to the mountain peak promises unforgettable views.
The Beachfront Bures at Kuata Island are perfect, offering the best combination of price and quality in Fiji. These luxurious bures feature great outdoor en-suite bathrooms steps away from the idyllic beach. Additionally, being the closest Yasawa Island to Fiji’s mainland, you can conveniently get back to Denarau Marina on the mainland in less than 2 hours via the Yasawa Flyer ferry.
Days 6-8
Likuri Island
The tropical paradise island of Likuri Island, situated near the Coral Coast in Fiji, offers a perfect blend of Fijian culture and relaxation and is an ideal place to spend a few days. It is marked on Google Maps as ‘Robinson Crusoe Island Jetty.’ The boat ride from the jetty to Likuri Island takes approximately 45 minutes. It offers a relaxing journey along the Tuva River.
Whilst Likuri Island is located close to the mainland, it truly offers a captivating escape that feels like an entirely different world. This charming sandy island exudes a delightful atmosphere and provides ample enjoyable opportunities.
